CALL FRRB EARLY CAREER AWARD - II EDITION

FRRB EARLY CAREER AWARD - II EDITION

Following the success of the first edition, the Regional Foundation for Biomedical Research is investing again in young researchers, by launching the EARLY CAREER AWARD Call - II Edition.

As suggested by the title itself, with this measure FRRB and the Lombardy Region renew their commitment to support the most promising young researchers who propose innovative projects in the biomedical field, allowing them to start or consolidate their independent career. The call is open to young Italian or foreigner researchers who wish to develop a project in an institution of the regional health care system (ASST, IRCCS, ATS or AREU) based in Lombardy. The institution that will manage the funding will have to guarantee the Young Researcher the best conditions to successfully implement the project.

Considering the need to promote the career of young researchers, the budget of the Call, allocated with the FRRB 2020 Action Plan (DGR n. 3476/2020) and subsequently increased by the 2022 Action Plan (DGR n. 6487/2022), amounts to a total of € 11,140,800.00.

In line with the FRRB mission, the call is focused on the development of personalized medicine approaches, in order to ensure a concrete contribution to the implementation of a "tailored" patient-centred medicine concept.

Each granted project will last three years, with the opportunity to receive up to a maximum of € 500,000.00.

The submitted proposals will cover one of the following research areas:

1. CARDIOVASCULAR

2. ONCOLOGICAL

3. NEUROLOGICAL

4. RARE DISEASES

Additionally, in case of projects developing one of the specific reward topics specified in the call text, an additional bonus will be awarded.

Importantly, FRRB fosters attention to gender-specific medicine and promotes inclusion and gender equality in research (the Foundation participated in the European project TARGET https://www.frrb.it/en/target and is currently a partner of the GENDERACTION+ project https://www.frrb.it/en/genderactionplus); therefore the Foundation encourages the presentation of research projects coordinated by female Principal Investigators.

Project proposals must be submitted through the regional platform Bandi Online at the link https://www.bandi.regione.lombardia.it/procedimenti/new/bandi/home.
