EP PERMED Joint Transnational Call 2024
The Regional Foundation for Biomedical Research is pleased to announce the launch of a new call on "Identification or validation of targets for personalized medicine approaches (PMTarget)", promoted by the European Partnership for Personalized Medicine (EP PerMed), of which the Foundation is a partner. With a total budget of around €375 million for the next 10 years, co-funded by the EU and more than 50 international partners, EP PerMed will not only significantly support the transnational development of personalised medicine approaches, but also their effective translation into clinical practice.
The Regional Foundation for Biomedical Research participates in the call with a budget of € 1,500,000.00. The budget per project may not exceed € 500,000.00.
The objective of the Call is to fund projects that promote the identification or validation of targets for personalized medicine approaches in combination with complementary biomarkers (complementary diagnostics). Projects can focus on:
1. Identification of new targets for the development of a concrete and achievable approach to personalized medicine, which is based on a clearly circumscribed biological/clinical hypothesis, in combination with complementary biomarker research. Applicants are invited to use existing clinical data as a starting point for target identification.
2. Development or validation of already known but not yet validated targets for the personalized medicine approach, in combination with research on accompanying biomarkers.
Projects are required to start from a relevant (unmet) clinical need and to include activities that support the full and effective adoption of the personalised medicine approach developed in clinical practice.
Topics excluded from the Call:
Projects with a focus only on the discovery of new biomarkers are not included in the scope of the call.

Pre-eligibility
FRRB performs a pre-eligibility check for entities applying for funds under the Joint Transnational Call (JTC 2024). The documents for pre-eligibility can be downloaded on this page, in the "documents to download" section. The pre-eligibility form must be sent to the email address progetti@frrb.it at least 10 working days before sending the pre-proposal.
FRRB also provides a template for drawing up the budget ("Budget tool"). The budget tool is designed as a support tool for internal use by applicants who are not required to be sent to FRRB and do not have to be attached to the application.

Definition of Research Centre/Institute
For the purposes of this call, a "research organization" is defined as any entity that has all the following characteristics:a) to report, among the main social purposes of its Statute, the purpose of research and the dissemination of scientific knowledge; b) carry out mainly and continuously independent research and dissemination of scientific knowledge; c) be equipped with stable structures, environments, premises and/or laboratories and instruments suitable for carrying out research activities; d) employ qualified and appropriate personnel for the research activity; (e) not to include among its activities the funding of research through competitive tenders.
