FRRB EARLY CAREER AWARD
After one year from the publication of the Collaborative project – II edition Call, FRRB focuses its funding activity on young researchers.
The FRRB EARLY CAREER AWARD is dedicated to researchers in the early stages of their scientific career. It represents the commitment, by FRRB and Lombardy Region, to support the most promising young scientists who propose innovative projects, allowing them to establish or consolidate their own laboratory and research group in Lombardy.
The call is open to scientists, Italian or foreigners, who wish to develop a research project in an institution (“Host Institution”) of the regional health system (IRCCS or ASST). Each funded project will receive up to € 600,000 over three years.
The Host Institution guarantees to the young researcher the best conditions in order to develop a successful project.
The young researchers funded by FRRB and working at public IRCCS will have the possibility to access the so called "research pyramid" (piramide del ricercatore), a contractual path identified by the Italian government to promote the pursuit of a research career in public institutions of the national health system.
Like other calls previously published by FRRB, the EARLY CAREER AWARD focuses on Precision Medicine, to contribute to the development of a system based on the single patient characteristics.
The scientific topics of the Call are intentionally wide, to allow young researchers to express their innovative ideas in the following areas:
a) genetics, "Omics", bioinformatics and systems biology;
b) physiology, pathophysiology of organs and systems;
c) medical applied technologies, advanced diagnostics, new therapies.
FRRB confirms its commitment in the development of measures in favour of gender equality in research (since 2017 FRRB is partner of the European TARGET project http://www.frrb.it/it/target). The Foundation sponsors the submission of research projects led by a woman, includes provisions for both maternity and paternity leave and offers the possibility to attend gender equality courses.
