Joint Trasnational Call (JTC) 2016
TRANSCAN 2 is an ERANET project, included in the framework of Horizon 2020 and co-financed by participating States and the European Commission.
The primary objective is to promote a transnational collaborative approach between scientific groups interested in translational cancer research, avoiding duplication of efforts and at the same time ensuring a more efficient use of available resources, thus producing more significant results, of higher quality and greater impact, through the sharing of data, information and infrastructures.
The countries participating in the Transcan 2 program are: Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Estonia, Greece, Israel, Holland, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Taiwan.
FRRB participates in the 2016 international call, and is a member of the JTC committee, launched on December 2nd 2016.
The topic of the announcement - "Minimally and non-invasive methods for early detection and progression of cancer" - is declined on three different aims:
• AIM 1: Risk stratification to distinguish groups by developing or progressing from cancer based on molecular biomarkers and established cancer risk factors, such as age, medical history, anthropometrics (eg: body mass index, waist circumference), and lifestyle related determinants (eg: diet, physical exercise, environmental exposure and medication)
• Aim 2: Validation of multiparametric methods, using a combination of promising biomarkers (genomic, proteomic, metabolomic and imaging) to improve our capability for early detection or progression of cancer
• Aim 3: Improve clinical evidence of the minimally invasive methods
The participation of Fondazione Regionale per la Ricerca Biomedica implies that regional players will have the opportunity to present a project proposal and obtain funding for their activities from FRRB.
