COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS – II Edition

COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS – II Edition

After two years from the first Collaborative Projects Call, which led to the financing of four projects for over 15 million euros, Fondazione Regionale per la Ricerca Biomedica proposes this new measure, which aims at supporting biomedical research in Lombardy.

The context of the call is Precision Medicine, aiming at the follow up of the contents of the positioning document on this topic, recently published (http://www.frrb.it/it/news-mp).

The new call is in line with the strategy developed by Lombardy Region, to develop and implement the approaches to Personalized Medicine, a goal towards which biomedical research is moving faster and faster, not only in Italy but in Europe as well.

There are three scientific themes: omics, advanced therapies and nanopharmaceuticals.

Each project should develop around the concept of Precision Medicine, and will have to demonstrate a potential to transfer the results of the research financed to the Regional Health System, taking into account the ethical, social and health implications of personalized treatments.

This call shows two important innovations: a part of the scientists at the head of the projects must compulsorily be female, to favor the presence of women in research. This criterion is in line with the philosophy of the Foundation that sponsors gender equality (FRRB participates in the TARGET project - http://www.frrb.it/it/target).

Furthermore, the FRRB proves to have at heart the future of young researchers, whose salary can be repaid with the funds allocated by FRRB itself, in implementation of the programmatic guidelines of Lombardy Region.

Detailed information can be found in the text of the announcement, and in the documents attached to it, which can be downloaded from the "documents to download" table.
