ICPerMed Conference 2018 'Personalised Medicine in Action'

ICPerMed Conference 'Personalised Medicine in Action' – Final Programme available

Bonn (Germany) 05 September 2018 – The final programme of the first conference 'Personalised Medicine in Action' of the International Consortium for Personalised Medicine (ICPerMed) is now available. The conference focuses on best practice examples for successful implementation of personalised medicine approaches and will take place in Berlin, Germany, on November 20-21. High-level speakers such as Jean-Eric Paquet (Director-General - Directorate "Research and Innovation" at the European Commission), Marian Harkin (Member of the European Parliament), Anja Karliczek (German Federal Minister of Education and Research) and Jens Spahn (German Federal Minister of Health) have confirmed their participation.

Best practice sessions on research and implementation will give successful examples for translation of personalised medicine research into an added value for the patient, such as personalised medicine approaches for rare diseases and cancer in Sweden or the implementation of personalised lung cancer care in clinical routine in Germany. This will be done in a comprehensive approach, giving room for representatives of all relevant steps to describe their views and experiences, e.g. researchers, clinicians, payers and patients. Further sessions will encompass examples for policy making and impact analysis on personalised medicine research from the ICPerMed member states. High-level key note talks on different aspects of personalised medicine will broaden up the conference perspective and provide international views on personalised medicine in China and India. Speakers and lecture topics can be taken from the final programme. In addition, the winners of the ICPerMed 'Best Practice in Personalised Medicine' Award will be announced and will present their results during a plenary session.

The ICPerMed conference 'Personalised Medicine in Action' is supported by the European Commission, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Federal Ministry of Health. ICPerMed provides a platform to initiate and support communication and exchange on personalised medicine research, funding and implementation. It assembles over 35 European and international partners representing ministries, funding agencies and the European Commission. The central aim of ICPerMed is to align and encourage joint efforts in personalised medicine research and implementation on a European and international level. ICPerMed’s everyday work is supported by the ICPerMed Secretariat that is financed by the European Commission and is coordinated by the DLR Project Management Agency (Germany) with partners from France, Italy and Spain.
